Fleas And Other Insects Don’t Have To Control Your Life

Over the years we have had the opportunity to try a number of dog flea remedies. On one end of the spectrum, we tried the cheap kinds from the pet store. On the other end, we tried some from the vet's office which were a lot more high priced. One thing that we learned is that over time, most fleas and other insects will develop immunity to almost any brand of flea treatment. When this occurs, the best solution is to switch to a different brand.

I remember talking to my pet's veterinarian one day. He told me a story about how some dogs would come in to his office and there would be so several fleas and other insects they would literally jump off of the dog and onto his staff. The strange part of it was, the whole time the dog seemed completely not aware of what was going on. Since the dog was not allergic to fleas and other insects, he didn't have any of the itching associated with them.

Unfortunately, a lot of canines are not so lucky. Some dogs are highly allergic to fleas and just a few bites can leave them scratching and chewing at the affected area. This is only the beginning as flea allergies can lead to allergic reactions that can cause hair loss, ear infections, hot spots, and more. Since an adult flea can bite around 200 times a day they have the ability to inflict a lot of damage.

To put a stop to this, we tried a variety of flea medications. We followed our vet's advice and bought the different versions of flea remedies that he recommended. I'm sure we paid a higher price to get his advice, but at the time I thought it was worth it. I believed that the medicines from the veterinarian's office were superior in quality to the varieties you could buy online or at a store, now my opinion has changed.

We think we finally found a flea treatments that works well for our puppies. We live in a hot, humid climate where fleas thrive and are able to survive year-round. The remedies that has worked quite well for us is Advantix.

After doing some research, I found on their website that Generic Advantix claims to stop fleas from biting in around five minutes. After an hour, some of the fleas will start dying off. After 12 hours, most if not all of the fleas should be dead.

Our dogs have been flea free for several months after switching to affordable K9 Advantix. For our house, we have found flea bombs to be helpful.
