Flea Markets are full of treasures waiting to be found!

Here’s a few down-to-earth tricks for making your date at the flea market even extra satisfying.

Nearly all flea markets are in the open so you might want some sunscreen, a hat and some shades. A cool drink tucked away in the bottom of your bag is also a great plan. For my part, I take a shopping cart so I can carry my new found goodies around with ease. There are some very inexpensive carts that fold up and easily fit into the trunk of your car.

I also make certain I dress in a comfy pair of walking sneakers so I won’t have to finish my day early due to tired feet.
One more great tip is to walk to the very end of the vendor’s stalls and work your way back towards the entrance. This way you will have the heaviest weight from stuff you have purchased when you are nearest your car. The majority people start at the entrance of the flea market so if you begin at the rear you will be likely to spot a lot of bargain priced odds and ends earlier too many other people do.

Additionally, since it is perfectly all right to barter with the vendor, I normally take some small change in my purse so I don’t have to drag out large notes during the haggling. Another thing to keep in mind is that you are more prone to get a better price later in the day when the vendor is eager to improve his overall takings for the day. By the end of the day though most vendors are very prepared to cut the prices on the items they have remaining. They absolutely don’t want to have to bundle up any more stuff at the end of the day than they absolutely have to. The down side to this tactic is by going to a flea market first thing in the morning you are likely to be able to take advantage of the choice before everyone else has.
There are different ways to reach a deal on the price of any given item. You can ask the seller what the lowest price is that they will take for a given item. You can also offer to pay a certain price and see if they will take you up on the deal. Alternatively, if you want to offer $10 then have the correct money in your hand for them to see. Seeing the cash will often sway them to accept your offer. Be fair with the seller but don’t forget that you may also discover the exact same item in the next isle even cheaper.
So good luck, have fun and happy bargain hunting!
